# Tripped Circuit Breakers

Frequently tripped circuit breakers are typically a sign of an electrical overload or short that needs to be diagnosed and addressed. Common culprits include faulty outlets/switches, cracked or damaged appliance cords, failed light fixtures/ballasts, or shared circuits exceeding their rated amperage limit. An electrician will test circuits with a voltage meter to locate areas of abnormal resistance or power drains. Outlets are checked for signs of overheating, loose connections or insulation damage. Overloaded circuits may need additional outlets or rewiring to balance the load. Broken equipment gets repairs or replacement. Loose wiring terminals causing arcing get tightened. Once the root problem is found and fixed, circuits can safely stay on without further tripping. Addressing underlying issues preventing overloads prevents safety hazards and disruption from intermittent power loss.
